Just for the Ultimate version, you get new effects from NewBlueFX and proDAD that let you do things like apply lens corrections, enhance and calibrate color, and create reflections. Choose from palettes to get the color language you’re looking for. You simply drop your clips into templates to create moving PiP layouts. Similar to tools available in CyberLink PowerDirector, these ease the creation of this style of PiP effect. Part of enhance motion tools, this makes object movement more natural. Windows 10’s Photos app also offers AR stickers, but those aren’t face-aware the VideoStudio feature is more like what you’d see in Snapchat or Facebook Messenger video chats. Taking a page from mobile messaging, the new AR Stickers let you add bunny ears and eyeglasses to faces. The previous version improved the UI and added more basic mask shapes and smoother lines on export. Instead, you add the clips to the dedicated Mask Creator.

The result is a solid, impressive product with a clear, simple interface that’s loaded with fun editing tools. Since the program is already so packed with capabilities, the 2021 release, while adding a few new features, is mostly about performance and reliability improvements-much needed based on my previous testing. It lets you perform stop motion, multicam, motion tracking, time remapping, video masking, and audio ducking. Corel VideoStudio Ultimate does so admirably, and is chockablock with powerful video editing tools. There's no end to innovation in home video technology, whether that means 3D, 4K, or 360-degree VR video, and the software you use to edit all that content must keep up.
